Books into Movies: The Fault in Our Stars

The Fault in Our Stars
Fox 2000 has optioned John Green's new novel The Fault in Our Stars. This means it has the potential to become a movie!

Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 12, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs... for now.

Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.

Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind.

Many YA books are being optioned for films, but not many get put into production. I haven't read this book yet, but I have heard great things about it. It would be awesome for it to be made. Right now they have the producers picked, but that's it. Surprisingly, the same people who produced Twilight will be producing this movie. I don't know what that means for it...I guess it depends if you're pro-Twlilight movies or not. What I do know is that this book has one of the highest average ratings on Goodreads I have ever seen! That has to mean something :)

What do you think about this becoming a movie? Have you read it? If it's made what actors would you want to play the lead characters?
