Fall 2012 TV: The Carrie Diaries

Carrie Diaries
The CW has optioned Candace Bushnell's novel The Carrie Diaries for Fall 2012. The show will be a prequel for the famous Sex and the City and will follow Carrie Bradshaw as a teenager in the 1980s. Hooked yet? Well, the show is being made into a pilot before it can be selected for the prime time lineup next fall.

Meet Carrie Bradshaw before ‘Sex and the City!’ The Carrie Diaries is the coming-of-age story of one of the most iconic characters of our generation. Before Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw was a small town girl who knew she wanted more. She's ready for real life to start, but first she must navigate her senior year of high school. Up until now, Carrie and her friends have been inseparable. Then Sebastian Kydd comes into the picture, and a friend's betrayal makes her question everything. With an unforgettable cast of characters, The Carrie Diaries is the story of how a regular girl learns to think for herself, and evolves into a sharp, insightful writer. Readers will learn about her family background, how she found her writing voice, and the indelible impression her early friendships and relationships left on her. Through adventures both audacious and poignant, we'll see what brings Carrie to her beloved New York City, where her new life begins.

Casting has already begun and the lead for Carrie Bradshaw has just been filled. AnnaSophia Robb has earned the role! She will join Stefania Owen, who will be playing Carrie's younger sister.

I like the choices! AnnaSophia Robb was great in all the movies I have seen her in. I hope though that if this show does get a spot on prime time that it isn't going to turn out like Gossip Girl (which is getting worse over the seasons). I'm going to be honest, I haven't seen Sex and the City, but from what I've heard it's a good show.

Have you read the book? Would you watch the show if it gets chosen? And...have you seen a Bridge to Terabithia (one of AnnaSophia's movies) because it might be a kid's move...but it was awesome!
