Fall 2012 TV: The Selection (Casting)

The Selection (The Selection, #1)
As you may have heard The CW is ordering a pilot for the script adaptation of The Selection by Kiera Cass. This book beat out Unearthly to have its first episode filmed. It won't be confirmed to air primetime next fall until the people at the CW see the pilot and choose it for the fall 2012 lineup.

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon. But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks. Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

However, casting as begun for the pilot which will be filmed soon. Aimee Teergarden (Friday Night Lights) is cast as the lead, America Singer. Ethan Peck will play the male lead as Prince Maxon.

I kind of love the casting choices. I have a special place in my heart for Friday Night Lights and I think Ethan Peck is a great actor! The only issue is that there has been so much controversy with this book and the author that it kind of turns me off to the show. But I guess I'll wait and see!!

So what do you think? Have you read the book? Will you be watching the show if it gets on air?
