Books into Movies: Beautiful Creatures (Casting Update 3)

Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1)
Three more actors have been cast in the adaptation of Beautiful Creatures. Emmy Rossum has joined the movie and will play Ridley. Thomas Mann (Project X) will play Link, Ethan's best friend. Lastly, Jeremy Irons is cast as Macon Ravenwood, Lena's recluse uncle.

There were no surprises in Gatlin County. We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere. At least, that's what I thought.Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong. There was a curse. There was a girl. And in the end, there was a grave. Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever. Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them. In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything

I love all the acting choices thus far! Jeremy Irons and Emmy Rossum are amazing, and I can't wait to see how they tackle their characters. Thomas Mann was surprisingly good in Project X, and I'm interested to see the relationship between him and O'Connell. The casting is fantastic thus far, and hopefully it just keeps getting better!

So here's the cast so far:

Jack O'Connell - Ethan Wate
Alice Englert - Lena Duchannes
Emma Thompson - Mrs. Lincoln
Viola Davis - Amma
Emmy Rossum - Ridley
Thomas Mann - Link
Jeremy Irons - Macon Ravenwood

Also in news - the release date for the movie has been set. Mark your calendars for February 1st 2013!

So what do you think about the casting choices? Are some of your favorite actors in the group? Would you have preferred someone else?  Thoughts below!
