Books into Movies: Legend

Legend (Legend, #1)

Over a year ago CBS Films bought the movie rights for Legend by Marie Lu. The producers of the Twilight franchise are producing the movie. They've already made some serious progress by hiring writers and director, Jonathan Levine. His work includes The Wackness and 50/50. I think he is a great director, but I am surprised by the choice. I think that Legend is slightly different than his other movies.

Recently, MTV sat down with one of the producers, Wyck Godfrey, for an interview about Legend. The script has already been drafted and he talks about filming, casting, and the location. Take a look below!

It seems like this adaptation is really underway. I haven't read the book yet, but I'm planning on it! I went to a book signing a few months ago and Marie Lu was there. She was incredibly nice! I'm thrilled that this book is going to be made into a movie, and I can't wait for casting! That's always the most fun part, right?

What do you think? Have you read the book? Excited for a movie? Surprised the producers of Twilight are making it? Thoughts below!

  1. I think this book could make a fantastic movie! My biggest problem with the book was that it had two narrators that had pretty similar voices, so I got confused a couple of times. But I think that is very easily remedied by turning it into a movie. I think the director will be great. I wonder if they'll make the characters a little older like the producer guy was saying? I wonder if that would help it appeal to a wider audience or turn off the younger crowd more? I don't know. Either way, I do think he's right that not enough people have read the book. The story is incredible. The movie could be great. Read it when you can!

    1. Yeah, I think it would be interesting for the characters to be cast older. Different, but maybe a good different. I'm glad you liked it! I will definitely read it!

  2. I love this book and the whole time I was reading it I was thinking what a great movie this would make! So I am so glad they are going ahead with it. I am really excited to see who they cast!! Thanks for all your book to movie posts, they are really interesting to me!
