4/5 Robots: For lovers of 80s music!

A small town girl and a city boy meet on the Sunset Strip, while pursuing their Hollywood dreams.

I didn't expect much going into this movie. I knew it would be a musical with eighties music, but that was about it. I actually really enjoyed it! The best part has to be the music. As a lover of cheesy eighties rock songs, this movie was right up my alley. It was difficult not to sing along with the songs, but I think the audience probably appreciated I kept quiet. I don't have the best singing voice :)

Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx was really awesome. He surprisingly has great comedic timing. Another comedy gem was the lovely Catherine Zeta-Jones. She has a dance scene that is hilarious! I would recommend going to see it just for that. But I have to add a disclaimer, you really can't take this movie seriously. You have to buy into the cheesiness and over-the-top expressions and choreography. If you can do that then you'll have a good time watching it. If not, then this movie may play as a really corny show.

The singing was phenomenal. I loved the songs they chose and how they used percussion. For instance, in one scene there are strippers clanking their heels together to produce the beat. Overall, it was a fun movie, but maybe a little long. It was over two hours and there were a few scenes that kind of dragged. However, it's still a great musical that eighties music lovers will enjoy!

Bonus: Check out my favorite song mash up of "Juke Box Hero/ I Love Rock and Roll" from the movie!
