Books into Movies: Hunger Games - Catching Fire (Jena Malone confirmed as Johanna)

There has been much speculation for who would be cast as Johanna. A week ago Jena Malone was offered the role. Today Lionsgate confirms that Jena Malone will be playing the young District 7 tribute. The confirmation occurred shortly after Josh Hutcherson accidentally revealed the news at the Teen Choice Awards. Continue reading for more details!

I'm thrilled for this news! I absolutely love Jena Malone. She's a fantastic actress and looks like how I pictured Johanna. If you don't know about the actress, I suggest watching Saved. It's a really funny movie! 

Santa Monica, CA, July 23, 2012- Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES:CATCHING FIRE are pleased to announce that Jena Malone has been cast in the role of Johanna Mason in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. Johanna Mason is a female victor from a past Games still in her early twenties, and is one of the youngest, but also one of the most psychologically scarred Quarter Quell participants.

Jena Malone joins Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amanda Plummer in Catching Fire. Finnick casting is still being debated but there are rumors that Sam Claflin is the frontrunner. Catching Fire is set for release November 22, 2013.
