Books into Movies: Matched by Ally Condie (Director in Negotiations)

matched - squared

It's happening! Another YA book is moving on in production for a movie. Ally Condie's Matched could have a director. According to Deadline, Disney is talking with David Slade for the coveted position. Continue reading for more details!

David Slade is known for...drum roll please...The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. That's right, the director of a twilight movie could be the director for Matched. Is this good news? Well it wholeheartedly depends on if you enjoyed Eclipse.

The writers who penned Sherlock Homes 2 will also write the screenplay for Matched. Plus, Adam Shankman is a producer. Don't know who Adam Shankman is? He's a judge on So You Think You Can Dance. The awesome judge. The one who curses a lot. So I'm particularly excited about that!

I haven't read Matched because my sister tried...and failed. But I may give it a go if the movie ends up happening!

Publisher: Dutton Juvenile
Release Date: November 30, 2010

Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

  3. I've read both books and will read the third, however, I can't say I'm really a fan of the series! This being said, I think the setting and the story could be made into a somewhat entertaining movie, possibly even better than the books!
