6 Sequels I'm Craving for in 2013

2012 has almost come to an end. With one month left it's time to reflect on such a great year. My ultimate favorite part of reading is finding the great debuts because now I have so many fantastic sequels to look forward to next year. So here are the ones that I'm absolutely dying to read in 2013!

1. Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi

Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2)

Series: Under the Never Sky #2
Genre: Dystopian
Release Date: January 8th, 2013

Why I'm Craving This :
Perry and Aria's story in Under the Never Sky was one of the best I've read in a while. But the sequel offers a deeper look into Perry's world, and that was my favorite aspect of the Rossi's debut. Honestly this could very well be considered one of my ultimate favorite dystopians.

Under the Never Sky #1
Goodreads Rating: 4.33 (10,370 ratings)

2. Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins

Sweet Peril (The Sweet Trilogy, #2)

Series: The Sweet Trilogy #2
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: April 30th, 2013

Why I'm Craving This:
I mentioned a week ago that Sweet Evil was one of the three books I was thankful for this year, and I meant it! I loved the romance and the characters and can't wait to see them develop in Sweet Peril. More Kaidan Rowe is a win-win for everyone! Plus, the synopsis promises more Neph and that group of teenagers is a dynamic bunch.

Sweet Evil #1
Goodreads Rating: 4.23 (7,112 ratings)

3. Breaking Point by Kristen Simmons

Breaking Point (Article 5, #2)

Series: Article 5 #2
Genre: Dystopian
Release Date: February 2nd, 2013

Why I'm Craving This:
The emotional relationship between Ember and Chase tops the all time charts of best romances ever. While there aren't as many steamy scenes as say Sweet Evil, this is a book very much grounded in realism. The romance is suggested to heighten in book 2 and I can't wait to read it!

Article 5 #1
Goodreads Rating: 3.79 (5,761 ratings)

4. The Elite by Kiera Cass

The Elite (The Selection, #2)

Series: The Selection #2
Genre: Dystopian
Release Date: April 23nd, 2013

Why I'm Craving This:
My sister wouldn't agree with this pick, but I honestly loved The Selection. It was light and fun and very sexy! I'm obviously craving this book because of that damn cliffhanger! I need to know what happens in the love triangle between America-Aspen-Maxon.

The Selection #1
Goodreads Rating: 4.02 (16,268 ratings)

5. Vortex by Julie Cross

 Vortex (Tempest, #2)

Series: Tempest #2
Genre: Science-Fiction
Release Date: January 15th, 2013

Why I'm Craving This:
For anyone wanting to read an "older" YA book I wold suggest Tempest. Jackson is a nineteen-year-old protagonist in college and definitely has an older vibe. He swears and talks about sex a lot. I loved the plot and the banter, and I can't wait to see how Jackson's love story unfolds with Holly!

Tempest #1
Goodreads Rating: 3.73 (3,970 ratings)
MY REVIEW

6. Asunder by Jodie Meadows

Asunder (Newsoul, #2)

Series: Incarnate #2
Genre: Dystopian
Release Date: January 29th, 2013

Why I'm Craving This:
Incarnate was full of surprises! Espeically that ending! We have hope for some new souls in the sequel and I can't wait to see how this will effect Anna's relationships. Plus, we get to see more of the original world and develop the cool places like Range and Heart!

Incarnate #1
Goodreads Rating: 3.82 (5,635 ratings)

What Sequels Are You Craving For?

I've chosen some of my favorite debuts last year and the ones that I not only want to stick with in 2013, but am DYING to read. I've left a few off the list, but I feel as if I should give an honorable mention to debuts like Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo and The Raven Boys by Maggie Steifvater, both of which will have sequels next year.

Have you read any of these? Did I miss out on a sequel your dying for next year? Let me know your favorite debuts in the comments!

  1. I had to laugh at myself; the first 5 books I have the first one of the series on my bookshelves, and I haven't read any of them! lol Need to get caught up on my reading!

I loved Incarnate, can't wait for Asunder! My big one I'm dying for is Requiem (Delirium #3), Dead Silence (Body Finder series), and Fragments (Partials)

  2. I am definitely looking forward to Asunder, as I really enjoyed the first book! And The Elite, too, even though The Selection was only okay for me, it was a fun read. I still have to catch up and read the first books of these other series though!

Right now, I am mainly craving the sequel (and last book) of the Unearthly series.

  3. I'm totally craving The Elite and Sweet Peril too!!! I loved both of the first books. I still haven't read Through the Never Sky and it IS on my shelf. Ahhh!!! I think I need to checkout your review because I haven't convinced myself that I'll love it yet. I started Incarnate like a month or so back and only got about 50 pages in. For some reason I'm just not "feeling" that one. When I finish with the books I've agreed to read/review in the near future, I plan on giving that one a go again.

    3. I've got TTEN on my shelf too, and I'm terrified to start reading it! In about 5 weeks the hardcover comes out, and I feel silly, but I'll probably just wait until then to read it. :/ I don't want to ruin it for when I buy the hardcover, if that makes any sense...

@Sallie Definitely makes sense! Especially since it's coming out in a month. I can't wait to get my hands on a nice shiny hardcover :)

    1. Oooh, Sever! I think that's definitely a good one to look forward to. I didn't like Shatter Me that much but I actually think Unravel Me will be better. Great picks, Sara!
