Books into Movies: The Host (Trailer + New Poster)

It's been a while since we had updates on The Host movie, but fear not! It's still happening and will be released March 29th. A monumental event happened yesterday...the release of the trailer! Yes, a full blown trailer that will fully blow your socks off! Continue reading to watch the trailer!

I'm officially excited for this movie. Twilight, what? I know longer care about those silly vampires hitting the big screen this week. I'm all about the alien invasion in March. The acting looks phenomenal and who doesn't love Max Irons and Jake Abel (both of whom have aged very well)! Plus Saorise Ronan can kick some serious ass.

Check out the new poster for The Host below. While I like it, I'm not sure I can fully support the obvious use of photoshop. Both guys look a bit morphed from their studly appearances in the trailer. (Maybe I'm just picky with my posters).

What do you think? Excited about the movie? If you've read the book, is it how you pictured it? And of course, who are you going to be rooting for Max Irons (Jared) or Jake Abel (Ian)? Thoughts below!

  1. I'm still super excited to see this, but the trailer is not at all how I imagined it. The trailer makes it look like Melanie (Ronan) & Jared (Irons) had a short, but good amount of relationship stuff going on in the movie before they were invaded. Pretty sure in the book all of Melanie and Jared's relationship experiences were from Melanie's memories she shared with Wanderer/Wanda (Ronan) during her acclimation in Melanie's body and during her time in the desert with the refugees. I'm pretty confused after watching the trailer because while there was romance, it never felt like it focused too much on Melanie and Jared, but Melanie & Jared in memories and then Melanie/Wanderer & Ian (Abel)... the love box as Irons and Abel put it in a recent interview... haha. And honestly, the book is like 600 pages long, I don't have enough patience to read it again. :/

Also, the song in the trailer has gotten tons of recognition and rightfully so, Imagine Dragons is an amazing band! I'm most excited to see the scenes where the aliens talk about the past planets they've invaded.. that was my favorite part of the book.

    1. I haven't read the book, but that's interesting that they're pumping up the romance in the trailer!

I also LOVE Imagine Dragons. I play "Demons" on repeat all the time. I'm excited about the whole alien mythology too. It seems like it's going to be way more interesting than Twilight :D Thanks for stopping by!

  2. After really hating Breaking Dawn, I sort of swore off Stephanie Meyer... which means I never gave The Host a chance. However! This movie looks fabulous, I definitely know I'm going to see it. Especially because I love the three main characters/actors. Especially Abel (Supernatural) ;)

  3. I am SO glad another trailer has come out. The teaser released early this year was so awful and I was really worried that the movie would be a bomb. It looks like it won't be exactly like the book, but I'm ok with that because it still looks pretty awesome!

  4. I agree with your poster comment! Looks very photoshopped, but oh well. And I'm so excited for this! The book is one of my very favorites and I think the actors are nearly perfect. I'm really happy with the casting on this one, which is surprising because I almost never like the casts of books to movies. Lastly, Team Ian!!!

  5. AGH! I'm very excited for this movie. Sairose Ronan is like my favorite actress and although Stephenie Meyer did write a book I feel this will be promising.
