50 Shades of Grey begins U.S. Book Tour

Fifty Shades of Grey is an erotic adult book phenomenon. It has surpassed The Hunger Games on USA Today's Best Seller's List, taking the prized #1 position. It is also being made into a movie, which may star Ian Somerhalder (Vampire Diaries). E.L. James continues her success by having hundreds of fans attend the first signing in Miami. You can read more about it at Hollywood Reporter
(AP Photo/Jeffrey M. Boan)

I liked the first book, but I'm not bold enough to go to a book signing for an erotic novel. What's captivating me more is the amount of publicity this book is getting. It seems like it's just blown up overnight even though I know in the book blogging world there was a steady pace before its popularity. My mother even knows about the books now, and she really doesn't read that much! So I have to ask...who doesn't know about Fifty Shades

Have you read the book? Are you going to? If you loved it, would you attend a book signing? Thoughts below!

Books into Movies: Tiger's Curse (Screenwriter)

Tiger's Curse (The Tiger Saga, #1)
Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck was picked up by Paramount Pictures for a movie adaption back in December. Recently, one of my favorite screenwriters has been attached to pen the screenplay!

Passion. Fate. Loyalty. Would you risk it all to change your destiny? The last thing Kelsey Hayes thought she’d be doing this summer was trying to break a 300-year-old Indian curse. With a mysterious white tiger named Ren. Halfway around the world. But that’s exactly what happened. Face-to-face with dark forces, spellbinding magic, and mystical worlds where nothing is what it seems, Kelsey risks everything to piece together an ancient prophecy that could break the curse forever. Tiger’s Curse is the exciting first volume in an epic fantasy-romance that will leave you breathless and yearning for more.

Julie Plec is set to write the screenplay! She is a showrunner for Vampire Diaries, which is my absolute favorite show on television right now! I'm so excited by this new. I haven't read the book, but there are very good reviews for it.

Since the screenplay has not been written yet, production won't begin for another estimated two years! The predicted release date is 2015. This is one of the many YA books being made into a movie. I'm sure the success of The Hunger Games has increased Hollywood's need for some YA adaptions.  I'm not complaining!

Have you read the book?  Have you seen Vampire Diaries? What do you think of the news? Thoughts below!

Fall 2012 TV: The CW (On-Set Photos)

The CW has some awesome shows being made into pilots for next fall. As the current television seasons wind down this May, we are one step closer to finding out which pilots have made the cut. Until then, I've decided to tease you with on-set photos from the pilots! Remember these aren't officially released images. These are taken on the set. But they're still awesome!

Based on the forthcoming series of books by Kiera Cass, The Selection is an epic romance set 300 years in the future which centers on a poor young woman who is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads.

Aimee Teegarden , Ethan Peck , William Moseley

The Carrie Diaries
Based on the novel by Candace Bushnell, a young Carrie Bradshaw comes of age in the 1980s, asking her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan.

AnnaSophia Robb

Arrow
Based on the DC Comics title, published by DC Entertainment, this hourlong drama is a modern retelling of the legendary DC Comics character Green Arrow.

Stephen Amell , Katie Cassidy

Technically these aren't "on-set" photos, but I'm including them anyway because they're awesome!

Don't forget to check out the rest of the CW pilots and vote on which of the shows you want to see most next fall!

What did you think? Are you pumped for any show in particular? I'm pretty excited for Arrow and The Selection. I don't know how The Carrie Diaries will fair compared to everything, but I'm sure whatever the CW chooses will be great! Thoughts below!

Welcome to my stop on this wonderful Giveaway Hop!
Fairy Tales are awesome. I love both the originals and recreations. Here are my top three favorite fairy tale heroes from the original stories:

1. Peter Pan from Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie: Who doesn't love this book? I'm talking to you Hook lovers! I have three words for you - Have at thee!
2. Gretel from Hansel and Gretel by The Brothers Grimm:  She's the first kick-butt girl I've ever read about. She shoved that witch into the oven.
3. Dorothy from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum: She reminds us all that ruby slippers will never be out of fashion. Technically they're silver in the book - but that's okay.

Now on to the Giveaway:
You can win your choice of one of the books listed below.
This is open Internationally as long as The Book Depository ships to you. Don't forget to check out the other blogs on this giveaway hop!

Video Vault: 50 Shades of Grey (Movie) - Ian Somerhalder wants to play Grey

If you haven't heard of Fifty Shades of Grey  then you have probably been avoiding the news and internet for the past month. Seriously, this book has exploded! I read it a couple months ago because of all the hoopla it was garnering on Goodreads. It's a scandalous read! If you're easily offended by erotica, then this book is NOT for you. I also love that the author doesn't take herself seriously. If you don't like the book, you will love the author after you watch this interview

Now onto the real news! Ian Somerhalder (Vampire Diaries) wants the role of Christian Grey! Watch the video below!

What do you think? Have you read the book? Is Ian Somerhalder the perfect Grey? Who would you want to play Ana if he got the role? Thoughts below!

Books into Movies: The Knife of Never Letting Go (Director)

The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1)The popular young adult novel The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness is being adapted into a movie! It's the first book in the Chaos Walking series. The movies has officially found a director! With the film moving towards pre-production it sounds like there is a likely chance we will be seeing it on screen!

Prentisstown isn't like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else's thoughts in an overwhelming, never-ending stream of Noise. Just a month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd and his dog, Manchee -- whose thoughts Todd can hear too, whether he wants to or not -- stumble upon an area of complete silence. They find that in a town where privacy is impossible, something terrible has been hidden -- a secret so awful that Todd and Manchee must run for their lives.
But how do you escape when your pursuers can hear your every thought?

Charlie Kaufman is attached to direct. He's written many movies such as Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind and Being John Malkovich. However, he's really not as well known as a director. Lionsgate is producing the film (the same production company as The Hunger Games) so it should be well made!

I'm going to confess. I have never heard of the book until I saw this news. After reading the summary and the amazing reviews, I'm already hooked. I'm putting it in my TBR pile immediately!

Have you read the book?  Okay, be honest, have you heard of the book? Or am I the only one living under a rock? What do you think of the news? Thoughts below!

Video Vault: Kiera Cass talks The Selection (Fall 2012 TV)

So if you don't know already, The Selection by Kiera Cass is being made into a TV pilot on the CW! The book is also being officially released in just three days! So to prepare for all that awesomeness I'm going to share a video from Kiera Cass' youtube channel (which is pretty amazing). She shares her thoughts about her book being turned into a pilot! Check it out below!

So I was already pretty pumped to read this book, but now I'm super excited! I love this author!!! Seriously, she is two hundred different kinds of awesome!

What did you think? Will you be reading the book or watching the show? Or both? Thoughts below!

Books into Movies: Catching Fire (Director)

Catching Fire, the amazing sequel in the Hunger Games trilogy has been searching for a new director. Gary Ross, the director of the first Hunger Games movie, had to bow out of the sequel due to scheduling conflicts. The choice came down to two wonderful directors - Bennett Miller (Moneyball) and Francis Lawrence (I am Legend, Water for Elephants).

Who took home the title?

Catching Fire  is already set to release Nov. 22, 2013!

What do you think of the choice for director? I love his other movies so hopefully he'll be as good as Gary Ross was! But he's got some big shoes to fill :)

Have you see any of his movies? Are you sad to see Gary Ross go? Thoughts below!

Books into Movies: The Immortal Rules

The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)You read the headline right! The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa has been optioned into a movie by Palomar Pictures! What does this mean? The book has the ability to become a movie! It won't be a sure thing until a director is attached and production goes under way. Sometimes that can take years or not even happen at all. But this is the first huge step towards seeing the book on screen! I heaven't read the book yet, but I'm going to get my hands on it - the reviews have been amazing!

Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them. The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself is attacked—and given the ultimate choice. Die… or become one of the monsters. Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad. Then Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend—a possible cure to the disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike.

Palomar Pictures is an independent company that has been involved in movies like Wild at Heart and Killer Elite. I don't know much about the production company, but I think it could be a good fit. Here is the official press release:

LOS ANGELES and TORONTO, April 19, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Independent film production company Palomar Pictures today announced that it has optioned Blood of Eden, the newest series from New York Times bestselling young adult author Julie Kagawa. The Immortal Rules, the highly anticipated first book in the Blood of Eden series, will be published by Harlequin TEEN on April 24, 2012.

Also visit Julie Kagawa's Blog for her awesome reaction on the news!

Books into Movies: The Host (Poster)

The Host is set to release March 29, 2013! The teaser trailer is out, images have been released, and now the poster has been revealed!

My sister has beat me to this news! So to honor her and her quick blogging skills you should check out the poster at her blog! It's pretty awesome how she laid them out too since the poster was conceived with the book cover in mind.

Excited for the movie yet? I know I am!

Books into Movies: Beautiful Creatures (Casting Change-Up!!)

It seems like this week has had some really buzz worthy books-into-movies news! Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl is being adapted into a movie! Casting is currently underway and the movie is set to be released February 1st 2013. The male lead had gone to Jack O'Connell (Skins) but in recent news he had to leave the role because of scheduling conflicts.

Who's the new Ethan?
Alden Ehrenreich

I'm pretty upset by this news because I am a big Jack O'Connell fan. But I think I'll get over it since the rest of the cast is so good. The above picture of Alden Ehrenreich (it's very hard for me to keep typing that name - another reason I'm peeved) is pretty awesome. Although, he doesn't look much like a teenager to me (he's 23) so we'll see how they make him look younger to play Ethan!

What are your thoughts on the switch up? Upset to see Jack O'Connell go? Have you seen any movies with Alden Ehrenreich? The only thing I've seen is his appearance on Supernatural in the first season. Surprisingly (but not suprisingly) I have watched the episode numerous times so I recognized him. I liked him in it. Excited for the movie? Thoughts below!!

Books into Movies: The Sea of Monsters (Casting Update)

The Sea of Monsters, the sequel to the popular Percy Jackson & The Olympains series is undergoing casting for the movie. Hermes and Ares' daughter have been cast! The movie is slated for release in 2013. You can find more about the cast at IMDB

Hermes -Nathan Fillion

Clarisse (Daughter of Ares) - Leven Rambin

I'm excited about the sequel because I enjoyed the first movie! And now that Nathan Fillion (Castle) is in it I'm going to be sure to see the movie in theaters. I also like Leven Rambin (Hunger Games) and I'm curious to see how her character fits with the current cast.

Do you like the new additions for the second movie? Have you read the books? Did you like the first movie? Will you see the second? Dish below!

Books into Movies: Ender's Game

Ender's Game (Ender's Saga, #1)
One of the most beloved children's books is being adapted into a movie! Ender's Game  by Orson Scott Card is currently being filmed. The movie has already been cast, so make sure to check out IMDB for a full list.

In order to develop a secure defense against a hostile alien race's next attack, government agencies breed child geniuses and train them as soldiers. A brilliant young boy, Andrew "Ender" Wiggin lives with his kind but distant parents, his sadistic brother Peter, and the person he loves more than anyone else, his sister Valentine. Peter and Valentine were candidates for the soldier-training program but didn't make the cut—young Ender is the Wiggin drafted to the orbiting Battle School for rigorous military training. Ender's skills make him a leader in school and respected in the Battle Room, where children play at mock battles in zero gravity. Yet growing up in an artificial community of young soldiers Ender suffers greatly from isolation, rivalry from his peers, pressure from the adult teachers, and an unsettling fear of the alien invaders. His psychological battles include loneliness, fear that he is becoming like the cruel brother he remembers, and fanning the flames of devotion to his beloved sister. Is Ender the general Earth needs? But Ender is not the only result of the genetic experiments. The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Ender's two older siblings are every bit as unusual as he is, but in very different ways. Between the three of them lie the abilities to remake a world. If, that is, the world survives.

The role of Ender went to: Asa Butterfield

I'm really ecstatic about this news. The young actor is phenomenal and according to my sister (who has read the book) he's the perfect Ender!

The first image from filming was taken during a scene with the flight simulators. It's a bit fuzzy, but you can see it below!

Also in news: Summit Entertainment is pushing back the release of the movie from March 13, 2013 to Nov. 1, 2013. That is a total of 8 months!! That's craziness! They're doing it so that the movie will premiere a few weeks before Catching Fire (Hunger Games Sequel) will be scheduled to release. What does this mean? More profit for the studios but more waiting for fans!

Have you read the book? Are you a fan? Excited for the movie? And if you're like me and never read it as a kid (so feel silly about picking it up now) do you still like the acting choices? Thoughts below!

Video Vault: Immortal City Book Trailer

I'm not a big fan of book trailers, but there are times where I find those gems that just hook me. I had never heard of Immortal City  by Scott Speer before I saw the trailer. At first I thought it was just another gorgeous guy angel, but when I learned what the concept of the book was...it actually intrigued me. Take a look below!

I think I prefer book trailers that don't have any speaking in them. What about you? A part of me also would kind of prefer this as a movie to a book, but maybe it's because I think the guy in the trailer is cute :)

What do you think of the trailer? Have you heard of the book? Will you read it? Comment Below!

Books into Movies: The Mortal Instruments (Release Date)

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)
The book that seems to be very difficult to be made into a movie has officially set dates for filming and release! The Mortal Instruments has gone through a couple production companies before finally landing one that seems like it will stick.

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end

So the official Filming Date is August 15, 2012
The official Release Date is August 23, 2013

Lily Collins has already been cast as Clary Fray.

Jamie Campbell Bower was originally signed on to play Jace, but after the production company switched he has not confirmed his role. I would actually like to see someone else play Jace (I'm not a huge JCB fan) so I'm hoping that they're going to cast someone else for the role.

Cassandra Clare also talks about the production company switch, if your curious how that happened!

Are you excited for the movie? August 2013 seems like it will be forever away! I know I'll be graduated from college and hopefully starting medical school. Where will you be? And what do you think about Jamie Campbell Bower? Do you want to see him back on the cast sheet, or would you prefer someone else to play Jace? Thoughts below!
