When I get back to the US I'll be able to reply to comments and visit all my favorite blogs!

Hope you all have a great summer and get lots of sun! (I know I need it, I'm ghostly). Don't forget your SPF !

Books into Movies: The Mortal Instruments (Kevin Zegers Could be Cast as Alec)

cityofbonescover-square - 150

Casting for The Mortal Instruments has been going full force. Alec is my favorite character in the books, so of course I've been anticipating his casting choice the most. According to Hollywood Crush and Just Jared, Kevin Zegers has joined the cast as the young Shadowhunter in love with his best friend, Jace. However, this has yet to be confirmed by the studio or Cassandra Clare.

Books into Movies: Hunger Games - Catching Fire (Sam Claflin Front-runner for Finnick)

Ang Lee has adapted the bestselling novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel! The first trailer has been officially released. Check it out below!

The effects look amazing! I haven't read the book, but this movie seems like it will be epic. Ang Lee directed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, so this is sure to be beautiful.

OCD Love Story
 OCD Love Story
by Corey Haydu
Release Date: 2013

Corey Haydu’s young adult OCD LOVE STORY, in which a girl with OCD bonds with a boy from her group therapy program only to push their budding relationship beyond it limits when her further descent into Obsessive Compulsive Disorder leads her to stalk the objects of her obsession, and she must choose: confront her past or forever be controlled by it.

I'm a sucker for good YA contemporary. Albeit, I have to be in the right mood for it, but OCD Love Story looks like one that can be enjoyed in any mood. I can't wait for its release!

Tiger Lily
by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Publisher: Harper Collins Children's Books
Release Date: July 3, 2012

Red Gray Goodreads Redcropped - backwards 2
Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair. . . .Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything—her family, her future—to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it's the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who's everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

Krista: So I'm a lover of Peter Pan. I've never hidden my love. I even have a shirt that declares it. So going into this book my thoughts were...this better not be some cliche teenage love story that turns the original into a trite version. So maybe I was expecting A LOT from Anderson.

Becca: So I'm a lover of Peter Pan...wait, you stole my intro, Krista! Darn. I can't say who's the bigger fan of J.M. Barrie or where my love transpired from. Simply put, I've seen the play (twice), own multiple copies of the book, and watch the 2003 movie every Christmas Eve. But you've been by my side for all of those as well, and I think we can both agree that staying true to J.M. Barrie's voice is what matters most. Which is why the 2003 movie reigns supreme.

Krista: I'm going to go out a limb...I'm the bigger fan. While girls were fawning over Eric from The Little Mermaid and Prince Charming from Cinderella, this was how I pictured my future husband...
Although I imagined he would reciprocate the kiss. Beat that Wendy!!

Becca: My Peter looked a little more like this.

Sorry, no red hair.

Review: The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises
Release Date: July 20, 2012
Actors: Christian Bale, Michael Caine
Genre: Action, Adventure
Rating: PG-13
Current Location: In theaters
4/5 Robots: A Dark Epic Conclusion!

Red Gray IMDB Trailer - Backwards - Final
Eight years on, a new terrorist leader, Bane, overwhelms Gotham's finest, and the Dark Knight resurfaces to protect a city that has branded him an enemy.

I'm a huge fan of all superhero movies, and I love the new installments of Batman. However, going into this movie I was a bit biased. The second Batman, The Dark Knight, may have been a perfect superhero movie in my book. And so the bar was set high for the final movie of the trilogy. Did it meet my expectations...sort of.

The movie is epic. There is no doubt about it. The scale of this film is incredible. Honestly, the stakes were exponentially higher than any other superhero movie I've seen. I felt so depressed half the time because it just felt so...hopeless. It was a good tone for this dark film.

The villian. Well, those are some big shoes to fill. There will undoubtedly be comparisons to Heath Ledger's Joker, which I'm still convinced is the best villian ever in cinematic history. Did Tom Hardy's Bane rise to the occasssion? Again...sort of. He rose the stakes. I would say that if Bane and Joker had a showdown, Bane would probably beat the Joker's ass. But the Joker was more compelling to watch on screen. Bane, in his whole mask getup, was just boring.

I am a sucker for Joseph Morgan who plays Klaus in TVD, so the first tweet on the list stole my heart.

Only when she begins a forbidden flirtation with the city’s handsome young courier does she let herself imagine a life outside the walls. Until one by one, girls around her start to die.

Before she becomes the next victim, Nisha decides to uncover the secrets that surround the girls’ deaths. But by getting involved, Nisha jeopardizes not only her own future in the City of a Thousand Dolls—but her own life.

Books into Movies: Hunger Games - Catching Fire (Amanda Plummer Cast as Wiress)

catchingfire - square

There are many new tributes to be cast in Catching Fire. Finnick and Johanna are of course the favorites of the new bunch. But if you've read the books then you know there are a few other memorable tributes, including Wiress. Lionsgate announced that Amanda Plummer has been cast as the veteran (and slightly crazy) District 3 tribute!

Books into Movies: Twilight - Breaking Dawn Part 2 (Opening Scene Previewed at Comic-Con)

breakingdawnbella-squareComic-con is going strong this year, bringing us new clips, pics, and news of all the best entertainment. New Breaking Dawn character posters have already been revealed. Recently, a video of the opening scene from the movie has been posted online. It was filmed by a brave Twilight fan (since cameras were not allowed). You can even hear the fan being scolded at the beginning of the footage. But alas, they filmed on, so that we could feast our eyes on the scene! It's short, but promising. Check it out below!

I'm a huge nerd, so when it comes to comic-con I'm always green with envy. It is my personal goal to hopefully make it to the convention one of these years. But alas, I don't have the funds at the moment, so I have to sit home and vicariously watch the festivities through blogs and videos. There has been a lot of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 coverage at comic-con, including panels and poster reveals. Video Vault: 'Oz: The Great and Powerful' New Trailer

Oz: The Great and Powerful trailer has just been released! Of course, this same video was just released at Comic-Con in San Diego where lucky fans got a taste of the magical world. The film is a prequel to Wizard of Oz and follows Oscar Diggs (James Franco) on his journey into the Land of Oz where he meets three witches -- Glinda, Theodora, and Evanora -- who don't believe he's the famous wizard he says he is. Books into Movies: The Mortal Instruments (Casting - Simon)

cityofbonescover-square - 150

The leads are being cast for The Mortal Instruments, and today we learned that Simon will be played by Robert Sheehan. The Irish actor is from the British show Misfits, which is incredibly funny (mostly because of Sheehan's character).

Video Vault: 'The Host' Cast talk about On-Set Pranks and more

I'm so excited for movie adaptation of The Host, mainly because some of my favorite actors are in the movie. Okay, because Saoirse Ronan is in the movie. The poster and teaser trailer have already been revealed, so now we're all just waiting for the March 29th release date (which happens to be my birthday)!  Until then, check out a very funny MTV interview with Saoirse Ronan and Max Irons.

Also because I love trivia, here's a cool fact about the movie:
In the novel, when Melanie is forcing memories upon Wanda, she mentions Jared's reservations of their relationship because of their age difference. At this point she was 17 and Jared was 26. This is the exact age of the actors portraying these characters; Saoirse Ronan and Max Irons.

I did not know Max Irons was 26! He looks way younger, and Saoirse is really talented for her age. Have you seen Hanna? That movie is kick ass times a million!

What do you think? Have you read the books? Planning on seeing the movie? And how much do you love Saoirse Ronan and Max Irons? Comments below!
