Fright Fest: Horror and Paranormal Giveaway!

Fright Fast large banner

It's almost October, which means a month of awesome horror movies and lots and lots of scary books. In honor of the wicked month I've decided to throw a Fright Fest Giveaway!  I may also highlight some horror book and movie reviews throughout the month, but I don't want to make a definitive schedule because that stresses me out.

One lucky winner will receive a YA Horror or Paranormal of their choice. Horror I consider anything creepy, especially Ghosts and Zombies. If you can keep the Paranormal in the scary genre, all the better. For instance, think The Immortal Rules (Vampires) or The Devouring (Demons). Not Angels and Faeries.

Some suggestions are listed below:

Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna, #1) This is Not a Test  The Unquiet Something Strange and Deadly (Something Strange and Deadly, #1) The Devouring (The Devouring, #1) The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1) Forget Me Not Undeadly (The Reaper Diaries, #1)

Books into Movies: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater (Optioned for Film)

ravenboys square
New Line Cinemas have acquired the rights for The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. I'm so incredibly excited about this news! I've already read and reviewed the book and thought it was phenomenal. Easily one of my favorites of the year.

This is one of the first YA novels that New Line has picked up for adaptation. Currently, no writer has been hired to adapt the book. I'm hoping that production for the film movies swiftly and doesn't go into a dark abyss of nothingness like many YA movie adaptations.

The Raven Boys will release in bookstores September 18th! Are you a Maggie Stiefvater fan? Excited for  the book and movie? Comments below!

Books into Movies: Divergent (Release Date Set)

divergent-1 - squared
Deadline reported over the summer that filming would begin for Divergent later this year. They also predicted that the release date would bet set for sometime in 2015. They were a bit off. According to Hollywood Reporter, the release date has been set. When will we be seeing Tris and Four on the big screen? March 21, 2014.

Of course this date is subject to change, but setting a date is a huge step in the production process. The screenplay will be written by Evan Daugherty, the same man who wrote Snow White and the Huntsman. I'm not a fan of the script for that film, so I'm a bit worried. Hopefully the casting will be superb though!

What do you think? Who would you cast as Tris and Four? Excited for the film?

Three friends are asked to be bridesmaids at a wedding of a woman they used to ridicule back in high school.

Review

I saw this movie on iTunes since it is a special on-demand theatrical release. I have to say that it was well worth the money. It's a hilarious and messed up ride about bridesmaids. Feel like you've seen this movie before? Well, you haven't. I'm going to throw the comparisons of Bridesmaids out the door. Bachelorette brings a lot more raunchiness to the party and way more effed up bridesmaids. The thing is, I like the more effed up bridesmaids.

If you were head-over-heels in love with Bridesmaids than this movie may not be for you. Bachelorette is way different and you may not like the drugs, booze, and sex involved. There's cocaine, strippers, and the slogan of the film is "fuck everyone."

Most Epic Book Trailer: Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff

stormdancer trailer banner

I confess. I've never really liked book trailers. I didn't even intentionally watch them until I decided to give awards to the good ones. And those are few and far between. Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff is one of the few that made the cut. But for what award? Well, it might just be my favorite. The book trailer is hilarious and doesn't take itself too seriously, so it earns my award for Most Epic Book Trailer. That's a pretty hefty title, but Stormdancer sure deserves it. What's even better? The reviews for this book so far have been amazing! I can't wait until I get my hands on it. September 18th needs to hurry on over here! Feast your eyes on the trailer below!
