Big news on the TV pilot front! The CW is recasting the pilot for its updated script of The Selection. The lead, America Singer, has been cast with a new actress replacing Aimee Teegarden. Who would that be? Well it's a newcomer! Yael Grobglas. Continue reading for more details!

According to Deadline, the Israeli actress has landed the coveted role of America Singer. She hasn't starred in much of anything in the US, so this might be her lucky break. I'm thrilled with this casting choice. I'm a huge advocate of fresh faces and Yael looks like she could be a great America. I'll be interested to see if they dye her hair red or keep her blonde locks. Since the script is vastly different from the original, I won't be surprised if they change up small things like hair colors.

Also joining the new pilot are two actors who were cast in the original pilot. Sean Patrick Thomas as Sylvan Santos and Peta Sergeant as the rebel, Gaia.

If your bummed that Aimee Teegarden is no longer America Singer, then you can look on the upside. The Friday Night Lights actress landed a role on another CW pilot this year: Oxygen. I'm actually rooting for this pilot as well. It sounds like a revamped Roswell.

Is this who you picture America as? Liking the new casting choice? Who is your perfect Maxon and Aspen? Sound off below!

  1. I think she looks right for the part! And I also like fresh faces. I am really interested to see how this turns out, because I think it could make a compelling tv show!

  2. I love when they choose someone unknown, it usually works out really well because they aren't typecasted yet. As for Maxon and Aspen? No idea. I'll probably like who they choose because I haven't read the book yet, so I'm not too attached. :/

    Thanks for keeping us updated!

  3. I'm both excited and nervous. Excited because, and I agree, fresh faces do make a difference. Especially when it comes to the CW who I feel recycle actors like no tomorrow. And nervous because we don't really much examples of her work. I really hope they announce Maxon and Aspen soon. Part of me hopes that they keep the original actors but switch their roles, Moseley for Maxon, etc.
