The Maze Runner casting has officially begun! Gally, Newt, and Alby have all been cast. Some fans speak out against the Alby casting, and the director responds! Continue reading for more details!
CASTING NEWS
Casting has jumped into overdrive for The Maze Runner. Last week we learned that Will Poulter was offered the role for the lead, but now he is officially cast as Gally. Described by The Maze Runner Wiki as, "a Glader who mistrusted Thomas from the beginning, turning into Tom's first enemy in the Glade." So Poulter will play a bad guy, but not the villain.
The second person to be cast is Alby, who will be played by Aml Ameenn. Alby is the leader of the Gladers. Aml Ameenn's most notable performance was in the movie Red Tails.
The director took to twitter to confirm this news!
And there was some concern by fans that Aml Ameenn is too old to play Alby (he's 27), but the director tried to pacify those concerns:
Finally, Thomas Brodie-Sangster will join the cast as Newt, Alby's second-in-command. Brodie-Sangster is most known for his role as the little boy in Love, Actually but I know him as Paul Mcartney in the biopic Nowhere Boy. He'll also be seen on Game of Thrones this upcoming season! So I actually love this casting choice.
Casting seems to be doing well so far, but still no word on who will play Thomas. The movie is set to release February 14th 2014.

Runners! We have two official cast members. Aml Ameen is our Alby. Will Poulter is our Gally. Both amazing actors. We're lucky to have them.

Hmmm, I don't know, I think Aml looks young enough.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Maze Runner, and am excited about the movie :)
I've never read Maze Runner, but all this buzz has me curious. I'm going to try and read it before the movie comes out.
