Maze Runner is a post-apocalyptic tale that’s produced by The Gotham Group. The main protagonist, Thomas, has his memory wiped and is deposited in a community of boys trapped in an enormous maze. He soon learns they are part of a mysterious test, and finds it is his destiny to join the ‘maze runners’ and lead them to freedom.

The widely popular science fiction series is making some serious headway on the production front. They've now offered the lead role to Will Poulter (Photo HERE), best known for Son of Rambow. I've seen the movie and can honestly say that his performance is pretty stellar for being so young. The movie also got a release date, which surprisingly is slated one month before Divergent. You can expect it in theaters February 14th, 2014.

I haven't read The Maze Runner, but I heard that it could be a great movie. Becca nearly died when I told her who was offered the role (she's a big fan of Son of Rambow), so it seems like everything is moving in a good direction. Only question is...when will filming actually start if this is supposed to come out in less than a year?

Like the movie news? Have you read the book? Digging the casting choice so far? Sound off below!

  1. *Prays silently, "Please don't screw this amazing book up with a not-so-amazing movie."* Lol! I sometimes get apprehensive when my favorite books are turned into movies because I don't trust them to do the book justice, BUT! There is always hope that they will, right? *Thinks, "Please don't screw up The Maze Runner..." :)

  2. I can see this book being a great movie, if done right. This book is so crazy and strange but really good. I think the casting choice would work too. :)

  3. Oooh! I'm on board with the casting since he played Eustice in Narnia. (sp?) So I think he could be really good! thanks for sharing!
