It’s been four years since I slept, and I suspect it is killing me.

Instead of sleeping, Parker Chipp enters the dream of the last person he’s had eye contact with. He spends his nights crushed by other people’s fear and pain, by their disturbing secrets—and Parker can never have dreams of his own. The severe exhaustion is crippling him. If nothing changes, Parker could soon be facing psychosis and even death.

Then he meets Mia. Her dreams, calm and beautifully uncomplicated, allow him blissful rest that is utterly addictive. Parker starts going to bizarre lengths to catch Mia’s eye every day. Everyone at school thinks he’s gone over the edge, even his best friend. And when Mia is threatened by a true stalker, everyone thinks it’s Parker.

Suffering blackouts, Parker begins to wonder if he is turning into someone dangerous. What if the monster stalking Mia is him after all?

Spotlight

Before we get to the giveaway, I have to express how much I enjoyed this book! And to do that I'm going to blurb a little bit of my review. The full one will be posted closer to June, so here's something to tease you with!
Blurb From My Upcoming Review
J.R. Johansson is not afraid to "go there" and what could have turned out to be a regular old story about a guy who enters dreams of others -- thus sometimes witnessing memories and sharing in the Dreamer's feelings -- became a thriller of the creepiest kind. Parker enters the dream of the last person he's had eye contact with and remains in a sleepless state -- not fully participating in the act that rejuvenates the body and mind. Without sleep, he's slowly dying. That is until he meets Mia. But catching her eye proves difficult. And it begins to turn him into a certifiable stalker, which makes for one interesting thriller!

  2. One of the main things I look for in a book is characters I can relate to. As long as I can get into their heads, I will enjoy the book, regardless of genre. Insomnia, from the little I know about it, seems to have nailed that, which is especially hard for male characters (because I'm a girl)

  6. Why do I want to read this book? Besides the awesome chill factor (which I really need more of in my reading right now), I LOVE books about dreams, and this looks to be stellar one. And THIS > "Parker starts going to bizarre lengths to catch Mia’s eye every day." Every time I read it this sentence gets me excited for this book all over again - I cannot wait to see what "bizarre lengths" these be!

    Thanks for the giveaway! :)

  8. Ahhh I've been wanting to read this since I saw it on netgalley (wasn't approved though). I find sleep deprivation horror/creepy stories FASCINATING ever since I read this one book a decade ago where all the babies in the world stopped dreaming and suddenly it was hell on earth. I don't remember the title, I'll have to look it up in my notebook somewhere in storage, but it started off so creepy and then fizzled. Insomnia sounds original (dream hopping?!) and creepy (god what if that person is some kind of sicko!?).

  20. Ohhh, creepy premise! Also, I can't stare at that cover for too long, it's a little freaky. I've only ever seen a few book covers that I have to face down on a bookshelf because I know if I see it in the middle of the night, I'd scream. Looking forward to the rest of the review! :)
