Book Mash [7]

A feature on Nawanda Files that is math...for books, where we mash up new and old releases with books, tv and movies. What equals our favorite reads? Find out in the simple equation below.

Combine sentimental foster care, a Lifetime-esque premise with a minor seeking to raise their siblings, and contemporary writing as powerful as Sarah Dessen's Just Listen (minus the sexual abuse).

Pushing the Limits
by Katie McGarry
Series: Pushing the Limits #1
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Release Date: July 31st, 2012

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.

Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

I succumbed to peer pressure and finally read this one. I really liked it! Did I love it? Probably not 100 percent because I felt way more connected to Noah than I did to Echo, but I'd suggest this contemporary to everyone. And I can't wait to read the sequel in Beth's POV. Have you read Pushing the Limits? Do you agree with the Mash?

This feature will replace Like This, Try This and usually be posted on Fridays. Feel free to create a Book Mash of your own!

  1. I haven't seen or read any of those, so I don't know if they mash to create PUSHING THE LIMITS. I'll have to take your word for it! I'll be checking out Sarah Dessen soon. :o

    1. The Fosters is brand new on ABC family. It's a really good show!! I like all the characters (unlike Switched at Birth, I can't stand most of the people on that show).

  2. I just started watching The Fosters it is really sweet. I think if it was a little darker then it would have been a perfect mash! I have never read Sarah Dessen's books!

    1. You have never read a Sarah Dessen book?! You must! I've only read a couple and they're great. Just Listen is my favorite. And I agree, if the Fosters was a little darker, it'd fit perfectly. I'm actually really loving that show. Great tv writing ;)

  3. Amen to this :) Just started watching The Fosters.

    Great post!

  4. Glad to hear you liked Pushing the Limits! I hope you'll like Beth's story too. I haven't started watching The Fosters yet but I was thinking about catching up. :)

  5. Pushing the Limits is one of those books I know I should read, I just can't get myself to put it on my TBR because my TBR is already so over flowing. Maybe I'll wait until the author finishes with the series/group of characters and then I can devour them all in a weekend!
