Cover Reveal: Addicted for Now by Krista & Becca Ritchie

This cover is long overdue. Addicted for Now is part of the Addicted series. In short, it's about two addicts -- an alcoholic and a sex addict -- who have to find a way to make their unconventional (and pretty dysfunctional) relationship work amid their vices. Krista and I are the authors of this New Adult contemporary romance series, and we're very happy to be able to present the cover for the official sequel!

I'll talk about the cover and the process after we reveal it. So keep reading after the jump!

Our Thoughts

First off, the summary for Addicted for Now will be revealed later. We're still finalizing it, but we really didn't want to hold off on the cover any longer. Out of every cover above, the sequel for Addicted to You has by far been the hardest. We had a tough time designing Ricochet (Addicted #1.5 -- companion novel) but it didn't compare to this one at all.

Why we chose this particular cover? Well, initially we wanted to go with a model that has not been overused in NAs. There are lot of male models that you see repeated over and over on New Adult covers, and so we planned to do something quite different. We actually hired a male model from an agency (and of course, a photographer because snapping beautiful pictures is not in our arsenal). But the male model we wanted was out of town, so we were left with one that we were a little hesitant about but we did the photoshoot anyway. The photographer was absolutely brilliant, but the model just wasn't striking enough.

We wanted something that was hot but yet still fit the theme of the series -- so we were always going to opt for a black and white photograph because they tend to be powerful. So after our photoshoot, we went on the hunt for a photo that would represent the series well (but we still didn't want an overused model). And we found one! Then we sent it to Hafsah at Icey Designs who did our first cover (Addicted to You), and she made it even more spectacular.

Truly, we hope you like this cover and it didn't disappoint. If we had super amazing connections, a magical fairy and lots of money, we would have hired Tim Borrmann who is the essence of what Loren Hale looks like. But alas, there are no magical fairies in sight. Even so, Krista and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Let us know your thoughts on all of the covers. We've had so many reveals lately, that we decided to be super informal with this one. I believe our blog and only one more will be revealing Addicted for Now today. So if you'd like to tweet about it to spread the word -- that'd be lots of help ;D

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE. I love the way all the covers match, right down to the fonts, and you better put them all out in paperback so I can have a pretty matched set on my shelves. Ebooks are great, but paperbacks are better.

    1. I think we will end up doing paperbacks for all of them :DD It's taking us a little longer to fix the paperback for the redesign of Addicted to You. But it's thankfully coming along again!

  2. Also Tim Borrmann is ridiculously pretty. He's who I've always visualized as Warner in the Shatter Me trilogy and now he's stuck in my head as Lo too.

  3. Totally random, but whenever I do powerpoint presentations for uni, I always use this design for pictures LOL :D Love it!

As for the cover--it's HOT HOT HOT! I like that they're black and white because most of the covers for NA are so birght, lovey-dovey and feature a couple on them. This is great because it's so.. different and I love that you didn't pick another Pepe picture or something similar--I think we can all agree that we're so over the re-used cover thing that's going on in the publishing industry. I wish you girls the best of luck with the synopsis and can't wait for this pretty to come out already! x :)

    1. Lol! I hope you enjoy Ricochet, Sara :D Yeah, they're spin-offs to the Addicted series, but people don't have to read the series to read them. So technically, they're standalones, which is what we're calling Kiss the Sky and Hothouse Flower :D

  8. I LOVE THE COVER! I like how it's unique with the scarf and such.

I did this huge post called new adult nuisances ranting about how I hate how new adults been ruined for me because I desperately want to read your writing but refuse to do so until I find a new adult book I enjoy again or else I'll go into it negatively and I refuse to do that. Queen Run-on over here. Anyway, I really really love you guys <3 You know that. And I can't wait to finally be able to read your books <3

  10. Nice! I do like how the first and second look together. I looked at Tim Borrmann and I do think he looks kind of like the Lo I pictured in my head but this guy works too especially since his face is shadowed. I prefer to use my imagination anyway!
