where we highlight our movie, YA and NA reviews for the month
4 / 5 ROBOTS: A story about loss, love, and gymnastics. And a romance filled with a deep emotional connection that YA contemporary lovers will want to read. Full Review.
4 / 5 ROBOTS: For fans of this series, this one doesn't disappoint. The magical journey continues, and the ending, literally, will have you crying or too stunned to do much of anything. Fans will want to read this one asap! Full Review.
2 / 5 ROBOTS: Major insta-love in the beginning forced Rissa to think more about a hot boy than her destiny, which put a damper on the conflict and slowed down the action. The plot would suit fans of Of Poseidon and The Vicious Deep. This just wasn't for me. Full Review.
ROBOT GRADE: I think Twilight is a great move -- for fans. Does it have any other cinematic value? Not really. I thought Mortal Instruments would stand up on its own like The Hunger Games -- meaning non-fans could appreciate it too. But after this, I just don't think so. Full Review: Twin Takedown Edition. -- C- & C+
ROBOT GRADE: A good look at the Civil Rights Movement with scenes that'll make you tear-up, but the lead left me a little...confused. Miscast, perhaps? Forest Whitaker just wasn't right for this role. Full Review. -- B+
ROBOT GRADE: Disappointing overall with an ending that does not shock but rather leaves you wishing you could rewrite the film. I'd see it in theaters for the action, but if you have a large screen at home, wait for On Demand. Full Review. -- B-
Honestly, this month was probably the worst month in terms of reading / reviewing for Krista and me. We spent 10 days of August in California to visit our brother, and it was our first time in LA, so when we weren't visiting, we were touring Hollywood and other fun attractions (admittedly, we went on the TMZ tour, which was really a guilty pleasure, but so worth it).
Usually I (Becca) average about 5 books a month, and I barely read 2! It's been bad. We even slacked on Book Mash in August to take place of some promotional events, but September, Book Mash will be back! And for those of you new to our blog, we can't wait to see your thoughts on the feature.
How was your month blogging and reviewing?
