To move on,
Leave the past behind,
And build a new life with Jay.

That’s all Em wanted. After everything they’d been through together, they were both overdue their ‘happily ever after’. Too bad the world doesn’t work that way. Memories last longer than dreams and Em’s fears continue to plague her both day and night, interfering with that new life she so desperately craves.

To start over,
Secure a future,
And give Em the life she deserves.

That was Jay’s plan, but the past isn’t done with them, yet. While Em still struggles to overcome the ghosts of her past, Jay is forced to come face to face with his. When the skeletons in his closet step back into the light, Jay must decide what he will do—and what he will sacrifice—to protect Em from them.

Against all odds, Em and Jay are on the verge of having everything they’ve ever wanted. They’ve fought for it before, but is their love strong enough to endure any more heartache? The time has come for each of them to choose for themselves whether or not they will allow the past to continue to corrupt their future. And, together, they must decide, will it be . . . NOW OR NEVER?

The sequel to Now or Never, a New Adult Romance by Jamie Canosa is here! I'm so excited to share an excerpt from the book. And guys...look at that cover! Gah! I'm in so much love already. Continue reading for the excerpt and a cool giveaway at the end.

Blog Tour (Interview + Giveaway): If Only We by Jessica Sankiewicz

If Only We
by Jessica Sankiewicz
Release Date: October 27th, 2013
Publisher: Amazon Digital Services, Inc.

They say all it takes is one wrong move and you lose the game. One false step and you’re trapped. One slip-up in your choice of words and you ruin a friendship forever. That is what they say. They say I lost.

I do not believe them.

At the end of the summer after graduation, Adrienne wonders what happened to cause her life to be in ruins. She isn’t getting along with her mom, her stepsister isn’t talking to her, and, to top it off, the boy she’s been in love with doesn’t want anything to do with her. She believes the turning point was a choice she made at graduation. When she wakes up the next day, she has been transported back three months to that moment, the one where everything started to fall apart.

Adrienne realizes she has been given a second chance—and this time she doesn’t want to mess anything up. Reliving the entire summer, though, turns out to be a lot harder than she thought. As the same days and weeks go by, she starts to see how simple decisions can make a huge impact on the world around her. Despite knowing some of what lies ahead, there are some things she didn’t anticipate. She thought she knew what mistake led her to where she ended up the first time. She was wrong.

And by the time summer is over, she discovers what was really at stake.

I'm so excited to have Jessica Sankiewicz at Nawanda Files today! She's a well-known blogger over at Thoughts at One in the Morning, and she's here to answer some questions about her recently published novel If Only We, which I cannot wait to read!

What can readers expect from your novel If Only We?

A range of emotion and hopefully an eye-opening experience. It's not just about time travel or second chances—it makes you think about choices you make.

As the world of debutante balls, corsets, and high society obligations closes in around her, Vicky must figure out: just how much is she willing to sacrifice to pursue her dreams?

A reoccurring feature at Nawanda Files that covers the latest news on book into movie adaptations. Features casting, filming, post-production news and more!

This book adaptation of Meg Rosoff's How I Live Now completely slipped by me! And when I stumbled upon the trailer, I started remembering how powerful this book really is. Combine an amazing lead (Saorise Ronan) and I'm doubly thrilled for this movie. Watch the trailer below.

Stacking the Shelves [54]

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews featuring books added to our shelves and sharing our excitement for them.

This stacking the shelves is long overdue. We haven't had one in almost a whole month, and I'm sure I forgot to include some books. But here are the new lovelies on our shelves:

TV Pilots in Review: Reign

We're reviewing six new 2013 pilots this Fall TV season! We'll be dishing about the good, the bad, and the hotties on the small screen. Twin Takedown style, of course ;)

Network: CW
Premiere Date: October 18th
Air Date: Thursdays 9/8c

Chronicles the rise to power of Mary Queen of Scots (Kane) when she arrives in France as a 15-year-old, betrothed to Prince Francis, and with her three best friends as ladies-in-waiting. It details the secret history of survival at French Court amidst fierce foes, dark forces, and a world of sexual intrigue.

Before the show, I remained skeptical that the CW could do a historical show. I mean, the production value has to be spot on, and how do you make a chaste time-period into something sexy? The CW seemed to prove me wrong on every aspect, so much so that this was my favorite pilot this year.

Becca: I agree. There was a lot that could go wrong. CW and horses? I don't think that's ever been done before. Castles? This isn't a WB backlot. How much is this going to cost? Can they pull it off? Well, I'll give you a hint on our feelings. We watched this pilot back in June (when critics received a copy), and we watched it all again last night. And I never once wanted to fast-forward or shut off my tv, even though I had already watched it all before.

And I'll put this into perspective. We had previously seen The Tomorrow People, The Originals, and half of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland in June. When they premiered in October, we fast-forwarded TTP and OUAT. The Originals was kind of new from what we'd seen, so we watched it. But Reign wasn't that different. And yet, we felt compelled, entranced, addicted to watch the entire thing again. It's that good.

Blog Tour (Excerpt + Giveaway): Unbreathable by Hafsah Laziaf

by Hafsah Laziaf
Release Date: October 29th, 2013
Publisher: Self-Published

One hundred and fifty years ago, Earth was destroyed, and the remaining humans fled to the dusty red planet of Jutaire, where the only oxygen is manufactured, food is scarce, and death strikes often.

When Lissa's father discovers Earth still exists, she accidentally inhales the toxic air of Jutaire, and in one breath, discovers she isn't quite human.

Her father hangs for his discovery, and Lissa knows the Chancellors will come for her, for she saw the Earth that night too. With nothing to lose, she sets out to expose the truth. It isn't long before she meets Julian, a beautiful boy who can breathe the toxic air like she can - and shows her that the Jute, the original inhabitants of the planet, are more tangled in their lives than she knows.

But the Chancellors are only pawns in a greater game - one where the Jute control everything. Worse, the Jute plan to leave Jutaire for Earth, but to get there, they need her. And they'll stop at nothing until Lissa is in their clutches, even if they kill every human in the process.

The race for Earth has begun.

Unbreathable is a tale of love, redemption, and sacrifice, and one girl's struggle to find her place in a world where she doesn't belong.

I'm so excited to introduce an excerpt from Hafsah Laziaf's debut novel Unbreathable. She's the lovely blogger/designer from Icey Books. She's seriously one of the sweetest people I've ever met on cyberspace, and I'm so excited to dive into her book. I've heard it's heavy on the romance -- which is just how I like my sci-fi's :D

Check out the excerpt after the jump and continue reading for a cool giveaway!

TV Pilots in Review: The Tomorrow People

We're reviewing six new 2013 pilots this Fall TV season! We'll be dishing about the good, the bad, and the hotties on the small screen. Twin Takedown style, of course ;)

The Tomorrow People
Network: CW
Premiere Date: October 9th
Air Date: Wednesdays 9/8c

The story of several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Together they work to defeat the forces of evil.

Becca: The Tomorrow People is a show about powers. And government. (And hot boys included) So naturally, I am excited.

Krista: Um...yes! It's got the three T's: Teleportation, Telekinesis, and Telepathy. Who doesn't love powers? The whole show has an X-men type feel, and for that I'm already a fan.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books We Were "Forced" to Read

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

Teachers made me do it!

Becca's List

Find MeAnd then There were none BY Agatha Christie

In a time where I was devouring Nancy Drew books, I loved being forced to read And Then There Were None in high school. I loved the creepiness, the mystery and intrigue. And more that that -- this was the moment I learned what a "red herring" was / means. Books do teach you things!

TV Pilots in Review: Once Upon a Time in Wonderland

We're reviewing six new 2013 pilots this Fall TV season! We'll be dishing about the good, the bad, and the hotties on the small screen. Twin Takedown style, of course ;)

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland
Network: ABC
Premiere Date: October 10th
Air Date: Thursdays 8/7c

In Victorian England, the young and beautiful Alice tells a tale of a strange new land that exists on the other side of a rabbit hole.

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland is a spin-off of ABC's Once Upon a Time, but you really don't need to watch the latter show to enjoy the former. I'm not the biggest fan of OUAT but I still tune in for the show (call it a guilty pleasure).

Becca: Same, same. The characters on OUAT aren't all that compelling to me (except the Peter Pan lore), but Wonderland, I love. And I was hoping the characters would be a lot better than OUAT. So let's see how the pilot panned out!

TV Pilots in Review: The Originals

We're reviewing six new 2013 pilots this Fall TV season! We'll be dishing about the good, the bad, and the hotties on the small screen. Twin Takedown style, of course ;)

The Originals
Network: CW
Premiere Date: October 3rd
Air Date: Tuesdays 8/7c

Series will focus on The Original family of vampires from Vampire Diaries.

I am super excited that this was tied with three other shows for 4th place so we have the chance to review it. The second episode just aired on Tuesday on its real timeslot (and again on Thursday) -- so some of the gifs I found were from the second episode, but they don't spoil anything.

Krista: We both are HUGE Vampire Diaries fans, so of course we were thrilled that The Originals was going to be made into it's own series.

Underappreciated Hidden Gems Giveaway

We love these. You may too.

Krista and I talk all the time about books that we think should have tons of hype but somehow fall through the cracks. (And by hype, I mean becoming a new household name in the YA community. So much so that they reach the levels of Stephanie Perkins or Rick Yancey.) They're underappreciated, hidden gems that we love and we think you may too. Maybe you already adore some of these, maybe you've never heard of them before, or maybe you've always wanted to read them. Whatever the case, we're giving away one of the books below! Enter the rafflecopter for your chance to win ;) And keep reading to see why we love each of these.

The Summer I Became a Nerd  Insignia (Insignia, #1)  Dark Star (Dark Star, #1)

Split  Charm & Strange  OCD Love Story

The Program (The Program, #1)  Witchlanders  The Cadet of Tildor

TV Pilots in Review: Sleepy Hollow

We're reviewing six new 2013 pilots this Fall TV season! We'll be dishing about the good, the bad, and the hotties on the small screen. Twin Takedown style, of course ;)

Sleepy Hollow
Network: FOX
Premiere Date: September 16th
Air Date: Mondays 9/8c

Ichabod Crane is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to the founding fathers.

3 episodes of Sleepy Hallow have already aired, but we're going to dissect the pilot for you in case you haven't started the series yet. Or you just want to discuss! Also, if you haven't already heard, Sleepy Hollow was renewed very early for the second season on October 3rd, which means if you're the type of person who wants to be assured that the series is going to stick around before you watch -- then you have no fear for this one.

Krista: I was incredibly surprised that FOX went ahead and already renewed this series based on 3 episodes. That takes lots of confidence on the network's part.

Becca: Also we'll tell you how far we've watched into the series near the bottom of the post. So let's enter the creepy town of Sleepy Hollow!

Sexy Sundays: Erin McCarthy Edition - True (and) Sweet

Sexy Sundays is a weekly feature on Nawanda Files where our romance expert will provide mini-reviews for the hottest New Adult and crossover titles in the genre.

by Erin McCarthy
Series: True Believers #1
Publisher: Penguin Group (USA)
Release Date:  May 7th, 2013
Source: Publisher/Netgalley
When Rory Macintosh’s roommates find out that their studious and shy friend has never been with a guy, they decide that, as an act of kindness they’ll help her lose her virginity by hiring confident, tattooed bad boy Tyler Mann to do the job…unbeknownst to Rory.

Tyler knows he’s not good enough for Rory. She’s smart, doctor smart, while he’s barely scraping by at his EMT program, hoping to pull his younger brothers out of the hell their druggy mother has left them in. But he can’t resist taking up her roommates on an opportunity to get to know her better. There’s something about her honesty that keeps him coming back when he knows he shouldn’t…

Torn between common sense and desire, the two find themselves caught up in a passionate relationship. But when Tyler’s broken family threatens to destroy his future, and hers, Rory will need to decide whether to cut her ties to his risky world or follow her heart, no matter what the cost…

Edgy, remarkable, New Adult Romance where the main character in college is a virgin! And her roommates decide she needs a little help so they pay the local bad boy to “fix” the situation. With roommates like that who needs enemies right?  Rory is the 20-year-old virgin, premed major, who has not found any guy worth “it.”

Rory’s mom died when she was very young, and she was raised by her Father who lacked all social skills. He was a college professor and extremely introverted after his wife passed. Rory and her father are close and Skype weekly while she's at college. They discuss her classes and extracurricular activities because he wants her to socialize more and meet more people…Must be because he is in a relationship and realizes how inadequate he was at helping her at this part of her life.

Ok, all of this makes Rory sound really boring when she is not at all!!! She's snarky and funny -- overall, she's smart, and I love that about her. Her roommates are the polar opposite, but she goes with the flow doing her own thing -- except for one night after one too many beers...
