PARANORMAL

Unbreakable by Kami Garcia
Releases October 1st 2013 by Little, Brown Books

Bonus Tidbit: Kami Garcia is the co-author of the widely popular Beautiful Creatures series, and Unbreakable is her first solo book. Many reviewers have been comparing this to Supernatural, and that's pretty much enough to convince me to read it. Two hot male ghost hunters...yes please!

SCIENCE FICTION / DYSTOPIA

Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano
Releases October 1st 2013 by Simon & Schuster Books

Bonus Tidbit: Lauren DeStefano's pretty prose was magnificent in her Chemical Gardens series. I can't wait to dive into Perfect Ruin -- a book about murder on...floating islands. This sounds genius and has already been getting stellar reviews.

Resist by Sarah Crossan
Releases October 8th 2013 by Greenwillow Books

Bonus Tidbit: Resist is the sequel to Breathe and the final book in the series. It's set in a world with depleted oxygen. Becca has read and reviewed it and considers it her "all-time favorite dystopian series EVER!" So I would consider this one a must must read.

FANTASY

Facade (Games, #2)The Iron Traitor by Julie Kagawa
Releases October 29th 2013 by Harlequin Teen

Bonus Tidbit: The Iron Fey spin off series continues with The Iron Traitor. Becca read and reviewed this book, and she was blown away by the shocking ending. It has the mother of all twists!

CONTEMPORARY

Facade (Games, #2)Reality Boy by A.S. King
Releases October 22nd 2013 by Little, Brown Books

Bonus Tidbit: A.S. King has written several highly acclaimed contemporaries. I have a love for contemps from male perspectives, and Reality Boy has been getting amazing reviews so far. The book centers around a former child reality star trying to cope with the world seeing all his "terrible" moments. It sounds super original and interesting!

Sex & Violence by Carrie Mesrobian
Releases October 1st 2013 by Carolrhoda LAB

Bonus Tidbit: Sex & Violence really hasn't seen a seat on the hype train, and a part of me thinks that maybe this one will be a really amazing little gem. The few people who have read it are in awe by the originality. Definitely on my top TBR for October.

    1. I really liked it! I'd say the first one was better, but the ending was just...I have no words for it. Kagawa really tricked me with that one!

  3. OMG I can't wait for Resist! Breath was kinda amazing :D Unbreakable was also pretty decent and I think Perfect Ruin doesn't come out in AUS until next month so *cry*

    1. I hope you love Resist! It's a phenomenal conclusion to Breathe. Oh no! That sucks. I didn't know they did that for books. I knew they held back release dates for film and tv, but for some reason, I thought books were universally welcomed on doorsteps the same day.

  4. So I have not read any of these authors except Kagawa! *so ashamed* I liked her Iron Fey series! I already have The Iron Traitor since I got it on Netgalley but I have yet to read! I'm hoping it's good. The covers of Perfect Ruin and Reality Boy are freaking gorgeous so I'm totally watching out for those! :) Great post, Becca! :D

  6. Some really awesome books came out this week, now if I could just make enough time to read them :) I'm also really excited about Perfect Ruin. DeStefano is quite good at being original and the synopsis sounds awesome! I've never heard of Sex & Violence before but I'm intrigued and I like the cover too.

  11. Though I wasn't too huge a fan of Lauren DeStefano's WITHER trilogy, I'm still extremely excited for her latest - and that cover is just stunning. Love love love! As for UNBREAKABLE, I haven't been seeing too many positive reviews about it lately, but a lot of bloggers are saying that it's pretty creepy, and you know me. I like giving myself a good scare. Still not sure if I want to check it out, though.

I hope you get to read REALITY BOY soon! I haven't seen much, but I love the sound of it, and how different and eye-catching the cover is. And yay - so glad to hear that you enjoyed THE IRON TRAITOR, Becca. I'm expecting to read it very soon, so I can't wait!

    1. Krista didn't finish the Wither trilogy either, but she told me DeStefano's writing was good enough to read more of her books. Krista just finished UNBREAKABLE -- and I asked her if I should read it, and she said NO, so I think that's a good indication that it wasn't up to par.

Reality Boy does sound really good and different! I'll have to ask Krista if she ordered it... And I can't wait for you to read The Iron Traitor!
