Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine spotlighting upcoming releases that readers are eagerly anticipating

The Half Life of Molly Pierce
by Katerina Leno
Publisher: Harper Teen
Release Date: July 8th, 2014

A mysterious and visceral page-turner about a seventeen-year-old girl who unravels the secrets of her alternate personality, reminiscent of the film Memento.

You live and you remember.
Me, I live and I forget.
But now-now I am remembering.

For all of her seventeen years, Molly feels like she's missed bits and pieces of her life. Molly suffers from dissociative identity disorder, and since she was a little girl, she's played host to Mabel, a completely separate and individual personality. When Mabel is in control, Molly experiences the blackouts she's been so scared of. But now Mabel is letting Molly in on her secrets; she's letting Molly remember. And in doing so, Molly uncovers the separate life she seems to have led...and the love that she can't let go.

The Half Life of Molly Pierce is a suspenseful, evocative psychological mystery about uncovering the secrets of our pasts, facing the unknowns of our futures, and accepting our whole selves.

Why I'm Waiting...

I love stories that have major psychological aspects, and this one takes on dissociative identity disorder (DID), which is what Tara had from The United States of Tara if anyone has seen that show. It's (I think) the updated name for multiple personality disorder. I'm so intrigued by the concept that I will surely be reading The Half Life of Molly Pierce this summer! And I also love Memento for how trippy it is, so comparing this book to the film is another plus!!

  3. I've never heard of this one! Or seen it, to be honest! I haven't read many books with any kinds of disorders, but I think that DID is pretty interesting. I hope you read this one, Krista! And then you should review it, so I'll know whether to read it or not ;)
